The 2018 Christmas season lit up the Haussmann District

For 2018’s holiday season, the Haussmann Paris Committee unveiled its “Christmas gang” and illuminated the world-famous district.

As the beating heart of Parisian shopping, the Haussmann district always counts on Christmas as one of the most important times of the year. Bringing together the district’s main retailers, the Haussmann Paris Committee offered its visitors an original demonstration for 2018’s season: the “Haussmann Gang”, who complemented the interactive lighting that were launched on Thursday, November 29th. 


A Gang of surprising characters!

Every weekend from December 1st through 23rd, twenty characters wearing colorful outfits and extraordinary hats strolled among the passersby. 
The gang’s mission? Enliven the neighborhood and help out its visitors: say hello, offer a compliment, and guide customers to their destination or stage small street shows… A variety of little attentions for the enjoyment of young and old alike during this magical period. 
On Saturdays and Sundays, the Haussmann Boulevard and the rue de Caumartin turned into an open-air stage where everyone could be lucky enough to bump into a character both mischievous and considerate. 


#ONLYHAUSSMANN, the app that brings lighting to life

To put its visitors back at the epicenter of the Christmas season, the Haussmann Paris Committee launched an app that’s available for download on the App Store and Google Play, #ONLYHAUSSMANN. It’s a free app that allowed passersby to take control of the lights on the world-famous Boulevard though their smartphone. 
Colors, visual effects, rhythm, people could take a pick among a variety of parameters to create their own light painting. The app let them choose between 16 million nuances and customize the animations’ speed. 
Possibly remote controlled from three pre-determined zones, each lighting animation shone from one to three minutes depending on attendance, to be enjoyed instantaneously. Participants could then share their experience on all social networks with hashtag #ONLYHAUSSMANN. 
Created in collaboration with Blachère Illumination Studio, these lighting animations started everyday at 5:30 p.m., from November 29th, 2018 through January 7th, 2019.
